  • Family and community are an important part of our centre. Family/whānau are always welcome to visit the centre and participate in their child's learning journey.

  • Learning journals form an important part of every child's pre school experience, through these the relationship between home and pre school is strengthened.

  • Our centre has been designed to encourage interaction with the natural environment allowing children to develop an understanding and respect for the world they live in.

  • We recognise that every child is unique and family beliefs and culture will be respected within our centre.

  • Every child will be supported in their learning experiences ensuring their individual needs and interests are met.

  • The teaching within our centre will focus on the holistic development of the child supporting emotional, physical, social and intellectual development.

  • Free play and group experiences will be based on the principles identified in the early childhood curriculum - Te Whāriki.

  • We support ongoing professional development of teachers to provide both personal growth for our staff and up to date practises for the centre.

  • We will care for every child ensuring their needs of rest, food and hygiene are always met without exception.

  • We will strive to ensure every child enjoys their time at Fernside Preschool as much as we enjoy having them there!.
