Our Philosophy
Fernside Pre school will provide a high standard of education and care in a safe and nurturing environment where children and families/whaanau feel welcome, valued and respected
Family and community are an important part of our centre. Family/whaanau are always welcome to visit the centre and participate in their child's learning journey
Learning journals form an important part of every child's pre school experience, through these the relationship between home and pre school is strengthened
Our centre has been designed to encourage interaction with the natural environment allowing children to develop an understanding and respect for the world they live in
We recognise that every child is unique and family beliefs and culture will be respected within our centre
Every child will be supported in their learning experiences ensuring their individual needs and interests are met
The teaching within our centre will focus on the holistic development of the child supporting emotional, physical, social and intellectual development
Free play and group experiences will be based on the principles identified in the early childhood curriculum - Te Whaariki
We support ongoing professional development of teachers to provide both personal growth for our staff and up to date practises for the centre
We will care for every child ensuring their needs of rest, food and hygiene are always met without exception
We will strive to ensure every child enjoys their time at Fernside Pre school as much as we enjoy having them there
